A Letter From Our Founder

Hey there, fellow seeker —

I'm Enrique Sotto, and I'll skip the part where I tell you I've always been passionate about creating content. (Who writes that they accidentally stumbled into founding a website anyway?) The truth is, The Seekr exists because of a spectacularly humbling road trip through New Mexico that changed everything.

The $8,726 Lesson

Three years ago, I was the guy who thought he had it all figured out. Executive position with a corner office at a finance firm. The "reliable" German car. The wellness retreat packages I'd book but rarely use. The points-maximizing credit card strategy I'd bore friends with at dinner.

Then came what my friends now affectionately call "The Breakdown Tour of 2022."

There I was—stranded on Route 66 just outside Albuquerque, drenched in sweat thanks to a performance shirt that lied about being breathable, next to a car that decided to throw a tantrum over a failed timing belt. No cell service. No snacks. Just me, the blazing sun, and the slow unraveling of every illusion I had about being “on top of things.”

I’d missed a known reliability issue in the model I bought. Ignored my dad’s insistence on keeping an emergency kit. Planned the route based on Instagrammable pit stops, not gas stations. And had zero clue how my out-of-state insurance worked.

A passing family in a 15-year-old minivan eventually rescued me. The dad—Carlos—quietly fixed enough to get me to the nearest town while explaining how he maintained his high-mileage vehicle with meticulous care. His wife Martha shared homemade trail mix and mentioned the local repair shop that wouldn't overcharge me. Their teenage daughter rolled her eyes at my car choice and showed me screenshots of the reliability ratings I should have checked.

By the time I reached my destination (two days late and several thousand dollars lighter), I realized something important: I'd been really good at appearing knowledgeable and terrible at actually being informed about the things that mattered in everyday life.

From Embarrassment to Mission

That breakdown—both automotive and slightly existential—became the unplanned first step in creating The Seekr.

I started with humble Google Docs, documenting everything I was learning about practical car ownership (not just the sexy features), genuine wellness practices (beyond what looked good on social media), travel preparation that prioritized adaptability over aspirational itineraries, and financial planning that emphasized resilience over optimization.

Friends started asking for these guides. Then friends of friends. Then strangers on Reddit. The common thread in feedback wasn't "wow, you're so smart" (thankfully) but rather "finally, someone explaining this without making me feel stupid for not already knowing."

What The Seekr Is (And Isn't)

The Seekr isn't about showcasing my expertise—lord knows that New Mexico trip proved I have plenty to learn. It's about sharing the journey of becoming genuinely informed rather than performatively knowledgeable.

  • Auto: We won’t tell you which car is “best.” We will help you figure out what matters for your needs—and yes, we’ll explain what that weird dashboard light means.
  • Wellness: No perfect morning routines here. Just practical, real-life ways to feel better in the body and mind you’re living in today.
  • Travel: Less about “must-see” lists, more about building meaningful experiences—and having a solid backup plan when things inevitably go off-script.
  • Finance: Grounded in the idea that financial advice should help you sleep better, not just sound impressive in a conversation you didn’t want to be in anyway.

The Real People Behind The Seekr

While I may be the founder (and frequent cautionary tale), The Seekr is shaped by a small team of writers, researchers, and contributors who are relentlessly curious—and just as committed to getting things right as they are to making them readable. Every piece goes through fact-checking and editorial review, because being relatable doesn’t mean being casual with the truth. The Seekrs Bio.png

Our Promise

We can't promise you'll never break down in New Mexico. But we can promise that everything we publish passes what we call the "Carlos and Martha Test": Would the people who helped me when I was stranded find this information useful, respectful of their intelligence, and worth their limited time?

If not, we keep working until it does.

Because seeking isn't about having all the answers—it's about asking better questions and being honest about the answers, even when they're not what we hoped to hear. So that's us. Imperfect. Still learning. Dedicated to sharing what actually works rather than what sounds impressive.

Still Here? Good.

If any part of this story made you exhale, laugh, or feel seen—welcome. The Seekr isn’t perfect. It’s not supposed to be. It’s evolving, just like the people it’s for.

I’d love to hear what you’re navigating, exploring, or just plain curious about. If something on this site sparked a thought—or you’re still trying to untangle a question—I’m all ears.

See you around,

Enrique
